Best High Tensile Fence Ideas

High tensile fence strength is a low cost, effective method for the containment of livestock species from horses to bovine to goats. Not only does high-resistance fence require little maintenance, but it’s also easier to install and lasts longer than other traditional fencing styles, according to the University of Tennessee. Make sure you use the 12.5 gauge galvanized high strength wire, which is made specifically to be stretched tight without breaking. Once you have installed your high-strength fence, you can choose to electrify it to make it even safer, especially if you have a lot of predators trying to reach your livestock.

Remove all stones and other vegetation on your high tensile fence line. Cut the lawn to 3 feet wide grass strip along the entire length of the proposed fence line. Use a can of spray paint to mark the corner post locations. Dig a deep hole 2 to 3 feet in your first location in the back corner with a post-hole finder. Insert the end of an 8 inch diameter pressure-treated post into the hole and check with your level to make sure it is flat. Hit the ground in the whole post with a tamping rod. Repeat this procedure for each of the corner posts.

Mark the high tensile fence line by stretching a guide wire with tightness between the corner posts about 6 inches from the ground. Measure 8 feet from each corner post along each length of the fence line and mark each spot with your can of spray paint for the installation of the clamp bracket.
